Attack Power To Weapon Damage

Attack power (AP) increases your base DPS by 1 for every iii.v attack power. To convert DPS into average impairment per swing:

(Weapon DPS + AP/three.5) * Weapon Speed.

If dual wielding, an off-hand weapon will also receive DPS from AP with the normal damage penalty. Disregarding dual wield specialization talents, the offhand harm is then:

[(Weapon DPS + AP/3.5) * Weapon Speed]/two.

Many abilities add some percentage of attack power to the damage they deal.

Each bespeak of forcefulness increases melee set on power past 1, except for rogues, shamans, and hunters who proceeds 1 AP per signal of agility. Druids in cat form likewise gain 1 AP per point of agility.

Players also receive 1 signal of ranged attack power (RAP) per bespeak of agility. Also, 1 AP = 1 Ranged Assail Power (RAP). Unless an item or result specifically says "+__ to Melee Set on Power" or "+__ to Ranged Set on Ability" then this is true. If it adds to Attack Power and does not specify "Melee" or "Ranged" and so information technology ever adds every bit to both Ranged Assail Ability and Melee Assail Ability.

Although characters of every class will have a listed amount of ranged attack power, the statistic is wholly meaningless to all except Hunters, Rogues and Warriors, as these are the but classes that can use ranged weapons.

Bonuses from attack ability are added to a character's DPS before assault speed bonuses come into effect. So, a character with a weapon with 10 base DPS, 2.0 attack speed, and 140 AP volition accept a full of 20 DPS (10 base + 140/xiv from AP). If a 10% increment to assault speed is gained, DPS volition increment to 22 (10% of twenty is 2) as opposed to simply getting one from the base DPS, at 11, and and then adding 10 from the attack power to 21.

In Cataclysm

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm This section concerns content exclusive to Cataclysm.

AP is no longer exist obtainable from gear every bit of Template:Cats-inline Patch 4.0.i. Instead, information technology will be derived solely from Agility or Strength. In the instance of Rogues, Hunters, and Shamans, each point of Agility will add two AP. Warriors, Paladins, and Decease Knights will gain two AP from each indicate of Strength. Druids will gain 2 AP from both Agility and Force, depending on form (Agility for Cat form, Strength for (Dire)Bear Form).

Mob attack ability

Mobs have unlike attack power formulas than players. Impairment done per second of mobs is given by:

(DPS_from_AttackPower + Base_DPS) * Multiplier.

For almost mobs, set on power is about 30% of total damage; bosses have higher multiplier than trash mobs. That ways -attack power debuffs have significant effect on raid mobs. Some tests suggest Improved Demoralizing Shout could reduce the damage taken from a level 60 mob by 25%. Thus Expletive of Recklessness volition increment the damage done of afflicted mob drastically. The -AP debuff is capped at -30% total damage result, as the formula suggests.

Player attack power

Ranged attack power

Removed from game The subject field of this section has been removed from Earth of Warcraft as of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm .

Attack power for ranged physical attacks (excludes spells and wands).

Hunter

Before patch 2.0.ane, hunters received 2 RAP per agility, whereas later on they receive 1 RAP per agility. Some of this loss was made up for in AP increases from items. The reason given for this change was to keep agility from being the exist-all and end-all of hunter stats, allowing for flexibility into intellect or stamina without sacrificing a large corporeality of AP. Nevertheless, this is slated to be changed back to two AP along with the release of Calamity.

After World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Patch 3.0.2, hunters could gain RAP from intellect or/and stamina by Survival and Marksmanship talents (meet [Careful Aim] and [Hunter vs. Wild]).

Shaman

Earlier Patch 3.0.2, Shamans received 2 AP per Strength. This was changed in 3.0.ii in preparation for Wrath of the Lich Male monarch. Shamans now receive 1 AP from Strength and one AP from Agility. With the talent Mental Dexterity shamans likewise proceeds i AP per intellect.

As of Patch 4.0.ane, Mental Dexterity has been removed and Shaman no longer gain AP from Strength. Shaman now gain AP solely from Agility (ii AP per i Agility).

Druid

Before Patch three.0.8, many weapons listed feral attack power, making these weapons highly tailored to druids and making other weapons unusable for druids. Later on the patch, specific feral attack power bonuses were removed. Instead, all weapons with more than 54.viii DPS grant feral attack power equal to [(DPS - 54.eight) * 14], rounded downwards. Just druids run across feral attack power in weapon tooltips. Feral attack power can exist increased further with the Predatory Strikes talent.
